Dog Groomer in Frankfort, KY Charged With Animal Abuse

On Wednesday, May 2nd, Teka Russell, the owner of Puppies, Puff and Powder, was charged with second-degree animal cruelty. Located in Frankfort, Kentucky, the 38-year-old was found caring for a malnourished female pit bull in her home. The put bull was severely underweight, weighing in at about 25 pounds under average. Back in late April, the female pit bull had given birth to two puppies and was taken to the Franklin County Humane Society for the abuse. During the first day at the shelter, the pit bull gained back three pounds, an outstanding amount that will hopefully continue to grow. While not allowing them to take the puppies at first, Russell was then convinced by Franklin County Humane Society Director, Angie Stewart, to hand them over and be placed in the shelter?s care. Teka Russell will be appearing in Franklin District Court on June 19th.

As for the dog grooming business, Puppies, Puff and Powder, there have been no reports of mistreatment to any animals left in her care. This goes to show that even those who appear to be close to animals can live a drastically different life at home. When looking into dog grooming companies, be sure to do your research in selecting a reputable one.
